iPhone 4G

iPhone 4G to have video chat? iPhone 3G also to be discontinued. The iPhone keeps going from strength to strength. It seems to have been designed by some very clever people who must sit round a desk saying things like “Wouldn’t it be cool if you could do this with it?”. Well, apparently, the latest idea is for the eagerly-anticipated 4G iPhone to allow you to chat with a loved one face-to-face. That’s the rumour right now. Indeed, it’s not just a rumour. According to TechRadar a new series of ads is being filmed and directed by Sam Mendes, one of which will feature a mother and a daughter chatting through an iPhone 4G. So if you like to look right in the eyes of the person you are chatting to, Apple could soon be your friend. Although if you were that desperate, you could have picked up any number of phones offering the same tech in the last few years. Meanwhile, the Apple 3G is biting the dust. Destined for smartphone heaven when the 4G is announced (7th June), the phone is already being heavily discounted in the US, while the Apple Store has removed its ‘buy button’ on the official site. With much of the iPhone OS 4.0 not applicable to the older 3G model, it’s probably for the best anyway. The iPhone is just one of a wide range of handsets available from Phones 4u. Mobile Phone Projectors

Mobile phones are becoming ever more sophisticated devices nowadays and it is almost a cliché to describe them as mobile computers that you can also use to make phone calls, though that is what they have become. One of the latest innovations in phone technology is phones that have projectors embedded within them. The first such phone has been developed by collaboration between Samsung and Texas Instruments. It incorporates DLP pico-chipset technology, a development Texas Instruments announced last year. This allows the phone to project an image up to a meter in size onto just about any surface. This particular phone also includes a 5 megapixel camera along with stereo speakers along with a high resolution touch screen that is built using OLED technology. Despite the fact that the projector is very small, it is a highly sophisticated device that incorporates literally thousands of minute movable mirrors; every pixel uses a unique mirror and the mirror moves so that it reflects either a blue, red or green light source derived from coloured light emitting diodes. Another example of similar technology is the Nokia N70 Projector Phone which offers a similar level of performance and in fact uses the same projector chip set. LG has a similar model. There is also some speculation that Apple are planning to incorporate a projector in future iPhones that will be launched in 2011. So how good are these projectors and are they worth the investment? Certainly the concept is appealing. No longer will friends need to crowd round a small display screen to view and image, the image can be projected onto a nearby wall allowing everybody to view it simultaneously. The resolution of the projectors is 480 by 320 pixels which is just about adequate but far from high definition; in reality the images can appear a little fuzzy. Improved resolutions of up to 850 by 480 pixels are being developed but these use over 400.000 individual mirrors and are posing yield problems. Overall this is an exciting technology, and one that in the future is likely to become common place.

Nokia N97

While some people consider the Nokia N97 to be the real rival of Apples iPhone and those same people predict great success on the market for this Nokia smart phone, other people are sceptical and believe it won’t stay on the market very long mainly because they think the display is not touch sensitive enough or because of the big case the phone has or competitors phones such as the LG Pop. However, the reality is that Nokia has made an excellent phone with great characteristics which include a 3.5” display with a resolution of 640×360 pixels, QWERTY keypad, WiFi, Bluetooth as well as WLAN, GPRS and HSDPA. The phone boasts a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics which can record video with a resolution of 640×480 pixels, autofocus and a dual-LED flash. There is also a secondary camera with a VGA resolution in the front side of the phone for video calls. When it comes to the software of the N97 it is notable that it is at a much higher level than its predecessors . The Symbian S60 operative system is reinstalled and it also has all sorts of options with which you can control your touch pad. Some of the applications available for the Nokia N97 include an improved Nokia maps and a Web reader with the support of Flash video. There are also movement, light and distance sensors and a FM radio as well as support for MP3, AAC , eAAC, eAAC+ and WMA musical formats. In short, this phone has it all. Antivirus - A Need of Every Computer

A virus is a software program designed to affect the operations of a computer. It is commonly created by people with negative intentions, to harm computers where there is valuable information stored; however, some people do it for fun.

The internet is known to be the carrier of viruses. They usually come to your computer through email attachments or instant messages. It can delete all the data on your hard drive, and most of the time they corrupt executable files to make your programs non-functional. To save ourselves from these viruses, we need special software programs known as antivirus programmes.

An antivirus program is one that you either download for free from the web or purchase to run on to your computer, and it helps protect your computer from viruses, Trojans and worms. Nowadays everyone uses the internet, so there are chances that your computer can get infected. It is sensible to always install an antivirus program on your computer. The best time to install this program is before the installation of application software.

MacAfee, Trend Micro, Kasper Sky and Norton are some of the most popular antivirus software programmes. There is no issue in purchasing any of them, as you get maximum support from everyone. You get updated virus definitions on daily/weekly basis.

If you are a single user working at home then it is not a bad idea to use free versions of antivirus software; however, in the corporate sector, you must have a licensed program. It ensures your data safety and the efficiency of your programs.

Free Laptops - Beware of Scams

The word “free” excites everybody, but when we think about it, we ask why someone is offering us free lunches (after all, there’s no such thing). Unfortunately, it lures many people - and they are easily scammed. There are many websites on the internet that offer free gifts to users; we should not believe them unless we are sure that they are not scams.

You might have received an email stating that you have won a free laptop, and you just need to click the link to claim your gift. You click on the link, go to their website, fill in a form and choose a username and password. Believe it or not, this is where the problems begin; some websites ask for credit card information and some use points & referral methods. Remember not to give your credit card information to these websites. When you are asked to earn points to claim your gift, you actually have to sign up to different websites that eventually ask for credit card details.

Now the next time you get an email, read a newspaper or listen to a radio program that says you can get a free laptop, always check the source and ask how many people have received free laptops till that date. It is advisable to check internet forums or search engines by writing the name of the website and adding the word ‘scam’, to know if the website is real or not. This way you will save yourself from any possible mishaps. Still, your first thought should be to ignore such messages unless it is from a reputable company that is offering a gift for its promotional campaign.
